Blood Donation Facts

Potential blood donor eligibility:

  • Should be aged between 16-65 years of age;
  • Should weigh at least 50kg;
  • Must be in good health;
  • Other medical requirements to be communicated at the blood donation centre;

Preparation for a blood donation exercise:

  • Get enough sleep the night before;
  • Stay hydrated;
  • Have a balanced diet with foods rich in iron (e.g. dark leafy vegetables);

A few things you can expect at the blood donation centre:

  • Fill out a health history questionnaire to further determine your eligibility;
  • A brief and friendly interview with a blood donor services attendant based on the filled health history questionnaire;
  • Kindly note that all the information you provide is kept strictly confidential;
  • 8-10 minutes’ blood donation exercise upon successful eligibility determination;
  • Rehydration and observation by a blood donor services attendant;
